LUMS Moves Up in QS Asia University Rankings 2022
LUMS continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the top universities in the region. According to the QS Asia University Rankings 2022, LUMS is placed among the top 17% universities assessed in the 2022 edition of the QS Asia University Rankings. LUMS has improved its position by five places this year; moving up from 121 last year to 116 this year.
The 2022 rankings also determined that Employer Reputation was the strongest performance indicator for LUMS. This is an extension of last year’s achievement where the QS Graduate Employability Rankings declared LUMS as the ‘top-ranked university in Pakistan.’ The Faculty Student Ratio has also gone up, along with Citations Per Paper.
LUMS is also ranked among the 651-700 top institutions of the world. For the past seven years, LUMS was ranked among 701-750 top institutions, and the 2022 ranking is a clear indicator that the University is gaining global prominence.
QS or Quacquarelli Symonds University Rankings are one of the most prestigious and recognised international university rankings in the world. QS assesses universities from around the world according to six different criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio, citations per faculty, ratio of international faculty members and ratio of international students. The QS Asia University Rankings not only retain the key indicators of the global ranking but also consider a set of performance metrics carefully tailored for the region.
Congratulating the LUMS community, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad said, “While we don’t chase rankings, we welcome improvements recognised by QS. I wish to congratulate our faculty and staff as well as our students, who have jointly contributed towards this accomplishment.”
QS also recognised how LUMS values research intensity, which is consistent with the LUMS vision ‘to become Pakistan’s leading research-intensive university, excelling in teaching and driven by a philosophy of learning without borders.’
Every year, QS acknowledges LUMS’ performance holistically as well as with a focus on its schools. Last year, the QS World University Rankings 2020 placed the Suleman Dawood School of Business at LUMS as the top business school in Pakistan and in the top 250 business schools of the world for Business and Management Studies and Accounting and Finance.
